Announcing: The Ninth Sorceress
You heard it right! My fantasy series The Price of Magic has been picked up by Talem Press in a multi-book deal. Book 1, The Ninth Sorceress, will be out next year in digital and paperback.
I’ve been sitting on this news since February, so it’s great to finally be able to shout it to the world. Fair warning: I might be insufferable for a few weeks. Have you heard about my book deal? Did you know I have a book deal? Want to hear some more about my book deal? Real life friends: feel free to spray me with a water bottle any time I say the words book deal.
So, what’s it been like so far? Well, working with the Talem team has been super easy, even for a total publishing novice like me. The Ninth Sorceress will be joining a bunch of other fabulous Talem releases, like Helen Scheurer’s Oremere Chronicles and Bronwyn Eley’s upcoming Relic. Here’s what they had to say about my book:

So here’s what The Ninth Sorceress is actually about. That’s an important detail, right? Our story follows Gwyn, an herbalist’s apprentice who’s been hidden all her life like a dark secret. But when she finds herself marked out by a goddess and pursued by wizards of the Syndicate, Gwyn must step out of the shadows and take charge of her destiny – even if the price is her own soul.
That’s the official press release, anyway. But if you approach me in real life and ask what it’s about, my answer will be more like this:
All I can say is thank goodness I didn’t try to self-publish, because I’m awful at this promotion stuff.
