Authorial Update – Come to my Launch Party!

Good morning my sweet and sinless loves! I’ve booked myself a well-deserved flex day from work (because the two weeks I’m about to take off during the Christmas break just aren’t enough). And that means it’s time for another bloggish update!

So what’s new? Well, my biggest news is that invites for my The Ninth Sorceress launch party are OUT.

It will be on Saturday 15 February 2020, 6:30PM at Better Read Than Dead Newtown. If you’re in Sydney, please come! There will be nibbles and drinks! You can also use the link above to order a copy of the book, which I’ll joyfully sign for you with any nonsense you like.

In local news, Book 2 of The Price of Magic continues to tick away. I’m aiming for about 105,000 words, and right now I’m sitting at about 98,000. Very close to the end. There’s just a few subplots to flesh out, and themes to hammer a little harder. I think this book is mostly about identity, and fear, and taking responsibility for your mistakes. But these things often crystallise more in the editing process.

After Christmas, it’s back to the Magic Author Cabin for a few days to make my final push. I really do love it down there. I’ve already bought bath bombs, and I’m going to read Queen of Nothing by Holly Black. Can’t wait.

I’m also hard at work on the map for Book 2, and am constantly reminded that I’m not in any way qualified to make maps. But that’s okay. We all remember how old-timey folks used to draw animals they’d never seen. I like to imagine my wonky maps are the in-world products of a low-tech society.

I’m also prepping some guest posts on various bookish blogs, due to come out around January/February. Once they go live, I’ll link them on socials, so stay tuned.

Aaaaand that’s it! Until next time, everyone!
